RAYCORE Structural Insulated Panels Arrive on Toronto Jobsite

It was a cold and snowy March day when the RAYCORE Structural Insulated Panels arrived in Toronto for Reiner Hoyer’s super insulated Passive House. These structural insulated panels would become the foundation of Hoyer’s project to replace his cold and drafty 1950’s home with what would become a new, state of the art structure, demonstrating the energy saving benefits of innovative building products, technology and careful building practices.

The Reno Coach's Home

Reiner Hoyer, an experienced 30 year builder now assists others through the homebuilding process as a home renovation consultant and coach.  Wishing to use Germany’s superior Passive House standards in his projects, he found RAY-CORE’s structural insulated panels an affordable and easy way to achieve that standard.  Hoyer chose RAYCORE’s 7-1/4 inch thick structural insulated panel with the 2x6 staggered stud configuration to boost whole wall R-values, thermal bridging and energy saving performance. In the staggered stud insulated wall panel, RAYCORE prepositions 2x6 wooden studs, 12” on center, staggered on either side of the 7-1/4” thick panel.  The offsetting of the studs eliminates the transference of heat or cold through the structural members with a continuous foam barrier without compromising the superior and reliable strength of the innovative structural insulated panel.
